LOTTERY FUNDING HELPS TWO SOUTH WALES CLUBS TO EXPAND
Palleg Golf Club, in the upper Swansea Valley in South Wales, has long been acknowledged as one of the best 9 hole courses in the area. In recognition of this, the Club was successful in obtaining a Lottery Grant for the extension of the course from 9 to 18 holes, and purchased an extremely dramatic site adjacent to their existing 9 for the extension.

Constructed in 2002 by Barrelfield Construction (with whom DWGD have previously created 8 new courses), the new holes opened for play in June 2004. With five holes crossing over a dramatic gully, it was essential that the holes were positioned allowing play, especially by the lesser players, to be undertaken unimpeded by this feature.
At neighbouring Glynneath Golf Club, four new holes were constructed to DWGD design, also by Barrelfield Construction Limited in Summer 2003 and, based on an overall re-design by DWGD were incorporated into a revised 18 hole layout which opened for play in Summer 2004.
