OTHER NEW COMMISSIONS DWGD recent new commissions include the following:
Sandford Springs Golf Club, near Newbury, Berkshire
DWGD have completed a course audit of the 27 hole layout, with particular emphasis on examination of the existing bunkering on all three loops named The Park, The Woods and The Lake. Work on the reconstruction of the Park Course was undertaken in Autumn 2004 to the practice’s design, with re-building work on the other two loops programmed for Autumn 2005.
Rhos-on-Sea Golf Club, North Wales
This popular 18 hole course, close to the practice’s office in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, has recently been purchased by new owners. DWGD have been awarded the commission to update and modernise the 6000 yard layout which currently is an enjoyable round of golf for the middle to high handicap player, but does not provide sufficient challenge for the better golfer. The re-design includes the provision of new ponds and lakes, together with the enlargement of existing water features to provide this test for the longer hitter. The resultant fill will be utilised to add mounding across this relatively flat course, into which new fairway bunkers will be introduced to tighten the drive for the better player. A considerable tree planting scheme is also proposed.
Leasowe Golf Club, Cheshire
Planning permission has been granted and tenders obtained for an extension to this popular Wirral golf course, including the construction of one new green and three new tee complexes. |
