NEW GREEN AT ROYAL PORTHCAWL

Completes work on Wales' "Top Three"

Completion of the new 12th green at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in October 2006 means that DWGD have completed reconstruction work on Wales’ premier three links courses within the last few years.

At Royal Porthcawl, the existing short Par 5, 12th hole, at only 467 yards, was lengthened by over 100 yards by the construction of a new green, fairway and approach on land formerly used as part of the Practice Ground.

A couple of years previously at Royal St. David’s Golf Club, Harlech, DWGD had re-designed the 17th hole, including new bunkering and a major realignment of the fairway to accommodate an extension to the practice ground.

Earlier this decade, the practice had also redesigned and re-built the Par 3, 2nd green at Conwy (Caernarvonshire) Golf Club, venue of Final Qualifying for this year’s Open Championship, and selected to host the 2007 Wales Seniors Open and also the British Ladies Strokeplay Championship.

Other reconstruction projects this year have included re-building the South/Championship course at PGA Golf de Catalunya, as well as other green re-building projects at Milford Haven GC, South Wales;  Surbiton GC, Surrey and Leasowe GC, Cheshire, as well as re-bunkering schemes at RAC, Epsom, Surrey and Porters Park GC, Hertfordshire.
