David Williams Golf Design

About Us

David Williams Golf Design offers a complete integrated solution to golf design projects. With over 25 years’ experience in golf course design, the practice has been involved in over 150 completed projects, with direct involvement in over 30 new golf courses in Britain and throughout Europe.

The practice undertakes work generally in the name of its principal, David Williams, who has built 20 new golf courses in his own name during the last 15 years. He also serves as Consultant Golf Course Architect to PGA European Tour Chairman and leading British golfer Neil Coles, in his golf design practice, Neil Coles & Associates.

David Williams Golf Design has established a strong reputation in designing very high quality golf courses at affordable costs. By providing accurate and detailed drawings, together with precise specifications, the practice’s philosophy is that the standard of information provided at the outset for their clients, planners and ultimately the constructors, should equal that provided in architectural and engineering fields.

Whether for new build or renovation schemes, ensuring the projects are built to budget and on programme has resulted in the practice gaining many repeat orders, with clients returning to David Williams Golf Design for subsequent projects, confident that their financial and project aspirations will be realised.

By also incorporating the values of landscape design and golf course architecture, acceptable, effective and economical solutions are produced, reflecting the practice’s philosophy to “lay the golf course gently on the landscape”. This approach has been demonstrated in two recent 18 hole layouts, both constructed in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and both of which only gained Planning Consent after Public Inquiries.

This integration enables David Williams Golf Design to give a “one stop” shop approach to all golf design projects, whether “new build” or renovation, with all aspects of the golf design, including agronomy, quantity surveying, project management and landscape design being undertaken.
